Boerne Fire Department Citizens Academy
The Citizens Fire Academy offers the public a greater understanding of the operations of a fire station and provides hands-on training in a wide range of topics.
CFA candidates develop a detailed and transparent view of the work firefighters and the department do every day, including vital tasks, projects, and the general lifestyle of a firefighter.
The academy is a nine-week course developed with help from neighboring departments. Classes meet once per week from 6-9 p.m. on Thursdays at the Boerne Fire Station. Candidates must attend at least 75 percent of the classes to graduate the academy program. The Fire Department will do its best to accommodate candidates’ busy schedules. There is no fee or charge to join the program.
Once accepted to the academy, candidates will receive a BFD hat, two T-shirts, and a polo-style shirt. A set of bunker gear will be issued to each candidate to be used while attending training.
